The Waunakee Rotary Club had a chance to meet the four Waunakee High School seniors awarded the club’s Service to Humanity Scholarships.

Meghan Skoug, Reese Adler, Lawson Kuhn and Grace Bernards attended the June 2 meeting to introduce themselves and talk a little bit about their community service and aspirations.

Reese will attend the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where she plans to major in marketing. She began volunteering with the high school’s Pay It Forward club her freshman year, also working in the garden. She served as the club’s president this year. Reese has also volunteered with Rotary Lights and as the Pay It Forward Club president, has organized fundraisers for the Waunakee Neighborhood Connection.

Reese said she is looking forward to moving to Minneapolis where she can continue her community service through a number of nonprofit organizations located there.

Megan plans to study elementary education at St. Norbert College. She has been part of Above the Influence, the Lions Club and Leos Club, and has also served as a football and baseball manager.

Lawson, who is known as “Bucky,” also plans to attend the University of Minneapolis, Twin Cities. He’s been active in Student Council and the National Honors Society. He’s also helped with youth baseball camp and is excited to find new avenues of community service at college and to continue coaching youth baseball.

Grace will attend UW-Madison and major in business. She’s been part of several clubs including Student Council, National Honors Society and Spanish Honors Society. Grace actually began a club of her own, Teens Against Trafficking, and helped revive the Law Club to make people aware of current events, the facts and laws, she said. Grace is also in Pay It Forward and has been a peer tutor.
